The different interest areas for the preschoolers at Children’s Village focus on everything from art, sensory activities and dramatic play to early literacy, pre-math, and science and nature-based projects. We work within an emergent curriculum, using creative child-centered and teacher-facilitated activities to support the children as they work towards gaining mastery of new skills as well as independence.
We recognize this age group in particular is expanding their social-emotional learning as well, and we work hard to provide opportunities for the children develop their sense of empathy and respect for each other while encouraging their growing self-confidence!
The Preschool Team
Jerina D. | Teacher
I joined CV in 2021 as a Preschool Teacher. I have a degree in Early Childhood Care and Development from Bryant & Stratton College, New York. Previously, I have worked as an IT specialist in a municipality and also as a high school teacher.
I believe that the role of a teacher to help students grow knowledgeable according to their abilities and interests - it is fundamental for raising good decision-makers and future strong characters! I also believe that “learning is not a race,” and every individual has the right to be part of a welcoming learning environment and experience enjoyable interactions with all the people around them.
I love to see how relationships between teachers and students build bridges toward success!
Takara J. | Teacher
Hi! I’ve been a teacher at Children's Village since December 2021. I have a daughter named Nova who will be graduating from the Pre-K classroom in the Summer of 2022. I have been teaching for about seven years with a variety of ages ranging from infants to pre-k. I love to focus on social emotional regulation and self expression in my teaching style. In my free time, I love illustrating and writing. I hope to open my own early education art center one day. In the meantime it is my pleasure to be working here at the children's village.

Hi everyone! Though I am new to the field of early education, I have worked with youth of all ages for many years. I studied Sociology and Gender Studies at Clark University in Worcester, where I lived until just a few months ago.
Outside of work, I enjoy quilting, upcycled fashion, and my cat, Aoife!
Alida S. | Afternoon Assistant Teacher
Hello! My name is Alida, and I’m so glad to be joining the Preschool Room as their new assistant! I began my teaching journey in the Pre-K Room at CV in March 2022. Prior to teaching I was a professional nanny for a little over 5 years. I am currently enrolled in school and hoping to get a degree in early education so that I may be a lead teacher one day. I became interested in teaching when the children I was nannying for started doing online learning during the pandemic. I was responsible for helping them get through their classes and found I really enjoyed the experience. Once they were back to in-person school, and no longer needed a nanny, I looked into teaching. I have always admired the preschool age group and I'm so happy to have the opportunity to work with this classroom. I look forward to getting to know each family as I continue to learn and grow as a teacher.
